🎭 Act 2 for Theatre in the park

Council is being asked whether they support Theatre Aspen's request to pursue a 292-seat permanent theatre in Rio Grande Park.

🩺 PitCo economy check up

The latest NWCCOG report shows Pitkin County has the highest average salary and also the highest tourism/outdoor recreation wages in the region, which make up 38% of jobs in the county; despite having 17,407 jobs and only 10,893 people in the labor force, Pitkin County has the highest unemployment in the region (3.4%); population is projected to increase by 944 people (5.7%) over the next 27 years.

🚲 Suitable for bike trails?

In more "suitable or not" discussions, council will be asked whether a bikes skills trail is suitable for an area in Marolt open space. In an Aspen Community Voice survey 85% of the 211 registered opinions support the project.

🫣 'Be Prepared Not Scared' campaign

June 22nd the COA in partnership with local agencies is hosting an open house to inform residents and visitors how to prepare for evacuation in case of an emergency. Locate your property on the Wildfire Risk Map.

✈️ ASE & FBO...TBD

The airport runway implications with the FAA heats up following a runway fire that resulted in an airport closure for two days this month. The BOCC's Tuesday agenda has another closed executive session to discuss the airport ballot measure procedure and the FBO lease update. The Airport Advisory Board also meets June 20th.

🗳 BOCC District 5 primary vote

Toni Kronberg, Neil C. Reilly, and incumbent Francie Jacober are vying for the District 5 seat. The top two finishers in the June 25th primary election will appear on the November 5th ballot. Early voting starts today. Please get out and vote!

🔤 Quality of life survey

Be on the lookout for a quality of life survey that was sent to a random sample of 3,500 Aspen households. Beginning July 1 the survey will be available to all residents.

📚 Aspen 360 enrollment closes July 1

The program covers the roles, responsibilities, limits, and services offered by local government. Enrollment closes July 1st. The class meets for a total of 7 sessions over a 3-month period.
